THE NEXT BIG THING
(netflix link)

"A deftly satisfying, comically coherent
sendup of the world of art."
-- Lawrence Van Gelder, NEW YORK TIMES

"Set amongst the spoiled and the starving in
New York, The Next Big Thing pits artistic
intelligence against a pleasantly simple love story"
-- Rachel Gordon, FILMCRITIC.COM

Chris Eigeman stars in this engaging comedy as Gus, a young artist tired of starving and desperate to make a name for himself in Manhattan.

His dream almost comes true one morning when he takes his portfolio to a gallery owner and, unknowingly, becomes the victim of pickpocket and all-around scallywag Deech (Harris).

Soon, Deech has broken into Gus's loft, stolen one of his paintings, and passed it off to his landlord to pay his back rent by claiming it to be the work of a passionate and troubled artist named Geoff Buonardi.

Soon, Geoff Buonardi is the toast of the art world, forcing Deech and Gus to work together to milk the scam, though Gus is desperate to reveal himself as the creator of the Buonardis.

A very funny and insightful send-up of the absurdly exclusive art world, THE NEXT BIG THING is a thoroughly enjoyable romantic farce.
